Unity Cup: Azeez Helps Super Eagles Secure Victory Over Zimbabwe

Femi Azeez became the 62nd player to score on his debut for the Super Eagles after Nigeria defeated Zimbabwe 2‑0 on Tuesday night, according to DAILY POST.

The Millwall winger opened the scoring for Éric Chelle’s side in the fifth minute and doubled the lead two minutes after the hour mark.

Other notable debutants who have scored for the Super Eagles include Finidi George, Julius Aghahowa, Obafemi Martins, Joe Aribo, and Bryan Idowu.

Azeez was also the first Super Eagles player in 55 years to net a brace on his debut. The last player to achieve this was Mathias Obianika in Nigeria’s 4‑0 win over Burkina Faso in November 1971.

DAILY POST reports that only five players have ever scored a brace on their debut for the Super Eagles: Friday Okoh, Patrick Noquapor, Abudu Buraimoh, and Obianika.
