Former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh has declared Paris Saint‑Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé to be the world’s best player at present.
The ex‑Juventus midfielder made the statement on the Sunday Oliseh Global Football Insights show, adding that Kylian Mbappé had actually benefited PSG by leaving for Real Madrid two seasons ago.
Mbappé had declined a new contract from PSG at the start of the 2023/2024 season after the Ligue 1 champions turned down a €120 million offer from Real Madrid for his signature.
“I will say that Kylian Mbappé did PSG a favour because prior to his exit it was said that he called the shots at the club,” Oliseh said.
“Players are now saying if they don’t run, they don’t play. When you hear things like that from Dembélé, who is the best player in the world, that tells you that PSG has totally evolved. This is the evolution of football. They are now in the Champions League final with practically the same team for twenty‑four months.”
