Suspected Lakurawa terrorists are reported to have killed two marine Customs officers during an attack on a checkpoint in the Gendene community of Bagudu Local Government Area, Kebbi State.
The attack is said to have taken place at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, when gunmen assaulted the officers at their duty post.
Local resident Bello Shata stated that one of the victims, identified as a senior officer, was burned alive after the attackers set fire to the area where he was sleeping.
Sources added that the assailants also torched the operational vehicle used by the officers during the incident.
According to residents, two villagers—a man and a woman—suffered gunshot wounds in the attack and are being treated at an undisclosed health facility.
When approached for comment, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, said a statement would be released after a full report is obtained.
“We will issue a statement once we get the full report,” he said.
