TVET Conference Aims to Expand Opportunities for Nigerian Youth

To unlock opportunities for Nigeria’s growing youth population, the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has finalized plans to hold its 2026 conference, which aims to advance skills, create employment opportunities, and drive industrial growth.

Co‑organised by the Federal Ministry of Education and the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB), the conference will be themed “Harnessing TVET as a Pathway to Employment: Building a System for Employability, Inclusion, and Green Growth in Nigeria.” It will bring together key stakeholders from government, industry, development partners, academia, and civil society to strengthen coordination and accelerate reforms within Nigeria’s TVET ecosystem.

The 2026 conference, the statement said, represents a unique opportunity to translate ongoing reforms into coordinated, scalable, and sustainable actions that respond to labour‑market demands and unlock opportunities for Nigeria’s growing youth population.

“This event is supported by the German, Swiss, Korean, and French governments and organised in cooperation with Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and other development partners, including the Delegation of the European Union to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and ECOWAS, United Nations Educational, among others,” it added.
