Trump to attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals in New York.

U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that he will attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden on Monday, after accepting an invitation from New York Knicks owner James Dolan.

When reporters asked if he would be present, Trump replied, “The answer is yes. He’s invited me, I’m going.”

The Knicks will host the San Antonio Spurs in the best‑of‑seven championship series on Monday, with Game 4 scheduled for Wednesday, June 10.

Initially, Trump had been unclear about which game he would attend, leaving open the possibility of attending more than one. The White House later confirmed his intention to be at Monday’s game in its daily schedule briefing.

His appearance is expected to trigger heightened security measures at the Midtown Manhattan venue.

The Knicks are back in the Finals for the first time since 1999—when Trump had courtside seats—and are aiming for their first title since 1973.

After winning Game 1 in San Antonio on Wednesday, the Knicks have recorded 12 consecutive playoff victories, sparking intense support in New York and driving up ticket prices for the Finals.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver, speaking at a community event in San Antonio on Thursday, said he was “thrilled” that the president wanted to be part of the event.

“President Trump is very much a New Yorker,” Silver told reporters, according to The Athletic. “I’m thrilled another New Yorker wants to participate in the enthusiasm and joy around this Knicks team.”

Silver added that before Trump entered public office, he was a devoted Knicks fan. “I was there at many Knicks games with him in the old days,” he said, noting that Trump once appeared in an “I Love this Game” NBA promotional spot.

The promotional spot, produced during the 2004‑05 season, featured several celebrities, including Trump using his “You’re fired” tagline from the reality show “The Apprentice.”
