Trump reports that Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to stop fighting.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday that Israel and Hezbollah had reached an agreement to cease hostilities, and that talks with Iran were progressing quickly after recent setbacks linked to Israel’s offensive in Lebanon.

In a series of social‑media posts, Trump said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had pledged not to deploy troops to Beirut’s southern suburbs, while Hezbollah had agreed to halt all shooting. He added that any Israeli forces already en route had been redirected.

These statements followed a report from Iran’s state news agency Tasnim that Tehran had paused negotiations with mediators in protest of Israel’s expanding campaign against Hezbollah.

“I had a very productive call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu of Israel, and there will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way have already been turned back,” Trump wrote. “Likewise, through highly placed Representatives, I had a very good call with Hezbollah, and they agreed that all shooting will stop — That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel.”

Shortly after, Trump posted that “talks are continuing, at a rapid pace, with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Earlier that day, Trump had expressed ambivalence about the Iran talks, which the United States and Israel began on February 28. In a telephone interview with CNBC, he said, “I don’t care” if the talks collapsed, adding, “If they’re over, they’re over. Frankly, I thought they started to get very boring.”

When asked by NBC News, Trump said he had not been informed that Iran had suspended negotiations, but he added, “I think we’ve been talking too much if you want to know the truth. I think going silent would be very good, and that could be for a long time.”
