The Association of Maritime Truck Owners (AMATO) has upgraded its Members Web Application Database to enhance professionalism, transparency, and operational efficiency in Lagos ports.

AMATO said the latest improvements were carried out entirely by its in‑house technical team, without external software developers, underscoring its commitment to digital transformation and innovation.

The upgraded platform incorporates intelligent duplicate‑prevention mechanisms, cross‑validation processes, and year‑based data management tools to improve the integrity, reliability, and credibility of members’ records.

While the database may appear routine, AMATO stresses that continuous refinement is essential to address operational weaknesses and keep membership information accurate, verifiable, and auditable.

The association also plans to integrate QR code technology, allowing real‑time verification of membership records by stakeholders and the public.

AMATO is exploring secure sharing of relevant database Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) with critical stakeholders to facilitate seamless operations, improve transparency, strengthen regulatory confidence, and enhance investor trust in the maritime haulage industry.

The database initiative aims to eliminate challenges transport associations face when providing dependable, verifiable membership records that meet international standards.

AMATO says the project is one of several innovative solutions it has developed to pursue a more efficient, transparent, and technology‑driven maritime transport sector.

In addition, the association has introduced an insurance scheme for truck operators called AMATO‑PAGO (Pay‑As‑You‑Load Insurance), offering affordable coverage to AMATO members and independent transporters in the maritime haulage industry.

Mr. Ajibola Adeshina, Head of Technical and Research at AMATO, said the association remains committed to practical solutions that address industry challenges while promoting efficiency and sustainability.

He added that the insurance package and other technology‑driven initiatives demonstrate AMATO’s ability to create innovative solutions that can compete with global standards, driven by vision, commitment, and a strong culture of innovation.
