Troops of Operation Enduring Peace rescued three kidnapping victims and began a search for two additional abductees along the Jos–Zaria Road in Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The information was released by Zagazola Makama, a counter‑insurgency and security specialist focusing on the Lake Chad region.
The report states the incident took place around 9:05 pm on 24 June 2026 near Mista Ali, after security forces received a distress call about suspected kidnapping activity on the highway.
Makama said the operatives reacted promptly, compelling the suspected kidnappers to flee.
The report named the rescued victims as Osuji Franklin, Danjuma Moses, and Irimiya Shehu, all of whom sustained injuries of varying severity.
He added, “The security personnel responded swiftly to the distress call, forcing the armed kidnappers to flee the scene.”
Preliminary findings suggest the kidnappers had already taken two other victims—Dayo and Henry Owen—before the security forces arrived.
The rescued individuals were transported to General Hospital in Mista Ali, where they are receiving medical care.
Makama also noted that the operatives recovered an abandoned Opel Zafira, registration RYM 25 A2, at the scene.
The report added that operatives have intensified efforts to locate the fleeing suspects and rescue the two remaining victims.
