Six travelers who had been abducted were rescued by troops from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) on the Hawan Kibo–Rafin Sanyin road in Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State.

The abduction took place in the early hours of Friday when suspected kidnappers intercepted a vehicle carrying passengers from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Jos, Plateau State.

Captain Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer for Operation Safe Haven, confirmed the incident. He said that troops from Sector 6 of Operation Enduring Peace immediately responded to a distress call and successfully rescued six of the abducted victims.

“When we arrived, we found an ash‑coloured Honda abandoned by the roadside with its occupants missing,” Oteh said. “We launched a search‑and‑rescue operation in the surrounding bushes and recovered six victims.”

Oteh added that efforts were underway to locate the driver, and that the situation was under control, so there was no cause for alarm.
