The Nigerian military’s Sector 2, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, has neutralised two terrorists, rescued three kidnapped victims, and seized weapons and other items during separate missions in Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 8 Division Nigerian Army / Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, announced the achievements on Saturday.

The operations took place on June 12 as part of the army’s ongoing campaign against banditry and terrorism in the state.

During a fighting patrol that covered Birnin Saba, Yanbuki, and Sabon Garin Daudawa in Zurmi LGA, troops encountered a group of terrorists in Yanbuki District. An exchange of fire resulted in the death of one terrorist.

From the scene, soldiers seized rifles, four magazines of ammunition, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones, two MP3 players, a woodland camouflage trouser, and an inner vest.

Troops then moved to Sabon Garin Daudawa, where the terrorists had abandoned their camp and fled before the soldiers arrived. The camp was subsequently cleared and destroyed.

In a separate operation along the Shinkafi‑Moriki axis, soldiers ambushed suspected terrorists, killing one. Items recovered included an AK‑47 rifle, five magazines, a Baofeng communication radio, two motorcycles, and assorted charms.

The military also confirmed that three kidnapped victims were rescued during these operations. The victims are currently receiving care, and efforts are underway to reunite them with their families.

The army reiterated its commitment to restoring peace and security in Zamfara State and the wider North‑West region, urging the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies.
