Troops arrest suspected gunrunner in Taraba.

In a joint effort by Operation Whirl Stroke, the Defence Intelligence Agency, and local vigilantes, a man suspected of illegal gunrunning was detained in Ardo‑Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State.

According to security officials, the arrest took place at about 7:45 am on May 13 during an intelligence‑driven operation in the Iware community.

“The suspect was reportedly apprehended following credible intelligence linking him to arms trafficking activities within the Amaseyo general area,” the sources told Zagazola Makama.

Initial questioning suggested that the individual was involved in illicit arms dealing, prompting his immediate detention by the combined security forces.

The suspect remains in custody and is undergoing further investigation.

Authorities also announced that they are continuing to work on dismantling arms‑trafficking networks in the state and surrounding regions.
