Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in cooperation with Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) operatives, detained a suspected armed robber and cattle rustler in Taraba State.
The information was released in a post on X on Tuesday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, the arrest occurred around 5:00 p.m. on June 21 at the Mbiam checkpoint in Takum Local Government Area.
Security sources indicated that the operation followed coordinated surveillance and tracking by Sector 3 OPWS troops and intelligence operatives who had been monitoring the suspect’s activities.
“The suspect had earlier been placed on a watchlist over alleged involvement in armed robbery and cattle rustling in Takum and neighbouring communities.”
“The suspect is currently in military custody and is being processed for further action,” Makama wrote.
Military authorities said the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to curb violent crime in the area, particularly armed robbery and cattle rustling, which have impacted parts of southern Taraba.
