Troops of Operation Enduring Peace in Plateau State have apprehended a suspect in connection with the killing of a man during a violent clash in Bassa Local Government Area.
Security officials reported that the incident took place at about 2 am on May 23 in Bomo village, where two residents, Sani Haruna and Bashiru Saidu, were involved in an altercation.
According to security expert Zagazola Makama, who posted on X, troops from Sector 1 of Operation Safe Haven arrived at the scene to find Sani Haruna with severe stab wounds that were allegedly inflicted by Bashiru Saidu during the fight.
“The victim was immediately evacuated to a medical facility in Miango for treatment but was later confirmed dead by medical personnel,” he added.
After the incident, troops working with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria conducted a search operation for the suspect.
Security sources confirmed that the suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody for investigation and possible prosecution.
Authorities assured residents of their commitment to maintaining peace and security in Plateau communities and urged citizens to resolve disputes peacefully rather than resorting to violence.
