Getafe have placed Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche on the transfer market this summer, with the Spanish club actively seeking a buyer for the Nigerian international, Afrik Foot reports.
After a breakthrough season at Getafe in the 2024/25 season that saw him rack up 41 appearances, five goals and enough quality to establish him as one of La Liga’s most exciting young players, Crystal Palace agreed a loan deal with a mandatory purchase obligation of around £17.4 million, triggered only if Uche started 10 Premier League games.
The problem was that Palace had no intention of allowing that clause to be met.
The one-time FA Cup winners used him sparingly from the bench; he started just three league games, and the obligation never materialised.

Uche returned to Getafe this summer with a market value reduced by circumstances beyond his control.
AC Milan and Real Betis have both been linked with a move for the Nigerian, and with Getafe now looking for a buyer, the story of Christantus Uche enters another chapter ahead of the new season.
A source close to Uche confirmed to Footy-Africa that the player has been processing a period that was personally challenging.
“It has not been an easy period for him, but he is fully focused on playing football again,” the source revealed.
“His first choice is to stay in Spain because he enjoyed his time there and misses playing in La Liga.
“There are clubs interested in signing him. I know of at least four from Germany, England and Spain.”

The driving force behind Getafe’s willingness to sell is financial pressure. It is a pressure that Uche’s Crystal Palace loan was supposed to relieve but ultimately compounded.
Getafe had structured their financial planning around the €20 million mandatory purchase clause they expected to receive from Palace.
When Uche accumulated just 270 Premier League minutes, not because he was poor, but because Palace actively managed his appearances to avoid triggering the clause, La Liga’s auditors revised that projected income, effectively dismantling the financial foundation the club had built their summer around.

“We all know Getafe are open to selling him, but only for a fee they believe reflects his value.”
That valuation currently sits at around €15 million, considerably lower than the €20 million they had been expecting, but still meaningful income for a club navigating tumultuous financial waters.
Real Betis and Real Sociedad are monitoring him closely within Spain, while clubs from Germany and England have also registered interest, giving Getafe the competitive tension they need to hold firm on their asking price.

If an offer that meets the €15 million valuation comes in, the decision will not be his to make.
What is certain is that the player who won the Conference League Goal of the Tournament award last season is looking for an environment that’ll allow him to thrive again, whether at Getafe or elsewhere.
