Turkish champions Galatasaray have finalized an agreement with Burnley to sign Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu for a fee estimated at €30 million as reported by transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano.
The 22-year-old had a remarkable season with the Clarets in the Premier League, despite the club’s relegation to the Championship.
Ugochukwu distinguished himself as one of Burnley’s key players, netting three goals and providing two assists across 35 league matches.
His reliable performances are said to have persuaded Galatasaray’s manager Okan Buruk and the club’s leadership to prioritise him as they aim to improve their squad for the upcoming season.
Galatasaray has now finalised the comprehensive agreement for a deal valued at approximatsly €30 million with the midfielder anticipated to complete the necessary formalities and sign his contract in the forthcoming days.
This transfer is expected to significantly strengthen Galatasaray’s midfield as the Turkish giants gear up to defend their domestic title and pursue a more formidable challenge in the UEFA Champions League following last season’s efforts.
For Ugochukwu, this transfer marks another pivotal advancement in his career and will also allow him to join forces with Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, who has become a beloved figure among Galatasaray fans.
His development continues to draw the interest of Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, who is reportedly keeping an eye on the situation of the France youth international.
Although Ugochukwu has played for France at various youth levels, he remains eligible to represent Nigeria at the senior level, having not yet earned a competitive cap for the French national team, thus leaving the possibility open for a future with the Super Eagles.
