The highly anticipated Nollywood film Ajosepo (The Gathering) opened its exclusive, star‑filled premiere on May 24, 2026, at the Filmhouse IMAX Cinema in Lekki, Lagos. The event adopted an “Owambe” (traditional party) theme, with guests showcasing elegant traditional attire to honor Yoruba culture and cinema.
Attendees arrived in outfits fit for royalty, featuring richly woven fabrics, embroidered aso‑oke garments, dramatic geles, and regal accessories. The venue became a showcase of Nigerian party fashion at its best, evoking the opulence of an extravagant Lagos wedding celebration.
Highlighting the evening’s fashion was Timini Egbuson, who portrays groom‑to‑be Jide in the film. Instead of the usual shimmering fabrics associated with owambe styling, Egbuson chose a refined traditional look. A matching red fila added contrast, while a white “irukere” completed the regal ensemble.
Co‑star Bolaji Ogunmola, who plays Mary, embraced bridal elegance with a beautifully tailored cream aso‑oke outfit. Her blouse featured softly exaggerated sleeves and intricate purple rope embroidery along the neckline and cuffs, while the layered skirt echoed the same detailing near the hem. She finished the look with a perfectly styled white gele, creating a modern yet distinctly traditional bridal aesthetic that fit the evening’s celebratory theme.
Beyond the lead actors, other guests wore elaborate custom traditional outfits and statement accessories, turning the venue into an elite wedding reception rather than a typical film event.
