President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary held across Akwa Ibom State on Saturday, May 23.
He received 389,197 votes from party delegates in the state, according to the State Collation Officer, Pastor Umo Eno, the governor.
Governor Eno praised the party faithful for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise, saying the result reflected the confidence and support President Tinubu continues to command among APC members in Akwa Ibom.
The primary attracted large participation from delegates and stakeholders representing all 31 local government areas of the state.
In his remarks, Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio commended the governor for his calm leadership and the party faithful for their orderly behavior during the exercise.
He also lauded the APC National Chairman for choosing direct primaries, noting that this approach has reduced rancour and violence in previous party primaries, where lives were lost in Akwa Ibom.
While congratulating President Tinubu on his decisive win, Akpabio pledged to replicate the same success in the 2027 presidential election.
