President Bola Tinubu declared on Wednesday that Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has not disappointed him in carrying out his duties.

The President said Wike is fulfilling his mandate to transform Abuja into a world‑class city under his administration.

He made the remarks during the inauguration of the Federal High Court Judges Quarters in the Katampe area of Abuja, part of a series of projects marking his third year in office.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the event, Tinubu said, “At this juncture, I’m forced to appreciate our dynamic Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike. When I gave Wike the assignment to transform Abuja into a world‑class city, I knew this capacity to deliver.”

“Wike, you have not disappointed me, from fixing critical road networks to ensuring the timely completion of projects like this Judges Quarters, you have proven that performance is the only currency that matters in public service.”

He also praised the judiciary’s leadership for their collaboration with the executive, noting that intergovernmental harmony benefits Nigerians.

He vowed that his administration would continue to provide infrastructure that eases the responsibilities of judicial officers.

“I also extend my appreciation to the leadership of the judiciary, the collaboration between the current executive and the judiciary under this administration remains a proud example of intergovernmental harmony for the collective good of our people.”

“To our Lordships who will occupy these quarters, this country looks up to you. The Renewed Hope Agenda is anchored on equity and justice; as we provide infrastructure to make your lives easier, we ask in return for an unwavering, swift, free and fair dispensation of justice.”

“Let the judgments that emanate from your minds continue to strengthen the fabrics of our democracy, your excellencies, my Lords. Abuja is changing, Nigeria is changing, and the reforms we are putting in place across all sectors might require patience but the proofs are beginning to show.”

“We will not relent until every sector of justice and the economy reflects the true greatness of our nation,” he added.

The President noted that the inaugurated project demonstrates political will and what rigorous effort can achieve, adding that “we are here not just to commission buildings but to fortify a vital pillar of our democracy, the judiciary.”

He said, “When we embarked on the Renewed Hope Agenda, we made a sacred covenant with the Nigerian people. We promised to build institutional trust, secure our nation, and ensure that the rule of law is neither compromised nor delayed.”

“With the official commissioning of his housing units, Quarters of the Federal High Court is a step toward fulfilling that promise.”

“For too long we have talked about the independence of the judiciary in abstract terms, but independent thought requires an independent environment. You can’t expect judges to dispense justice without fear or favour if their comfort, security, and peace of mind are left to chance.”

“True judicial independence is built on the dignity of our Judicial officers by providing this state‑of‑the‑art quarters. We are ensuring that our Federal High Court judges operate from a place of security, comfort, and almost dignity.”

“These projects are a deliberate shield against vulnerability, a statement of Nigerians’ values toward interpreting her laws.”
