President Bola Tinubu congratulated former Lagos State Governor and former Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on turning 63.
In a statement released by spokesperson Mr Bayo Onanuga on Sunday in Abuja, Tinubu called Fashola an outstanding administrator, a skilled lawyer, and a patriotic Nigerian.
Tinubu said Fashola’s exemplary leadership has left a lasting legacy, especially in Lagos State, through his dedication to good governance, integrity, and nation‑building.
Tinubu recalled Fashola’s tenure as his Chief of Staff from 2003 to 2006 and as Governor of Lagos State from 2007 to 2015.
He added that Fashola consolidated the gains of progressive governance through landmark reforms in infrastructure, transportation, security, education, healthcare, environmental management, and public sector administration.
Tinubu also praised Fashola’s service in the Federal Executive Council from 2015 to 2023, during which he headed the ministries of Works, Power and Housing.
“Fashola’s commitment to excellence, which helped transform Lagos into a model of innovation and sustainable urban development, will continue to mark him as an outstanding governor and leader.”
“We must also commend his dedicated service in the Federal Cabinet from 2015 to 2023, when he led the critical ministries of Works, Power and Housing.”
“As former governor Fashola celebrates another year, I wish him well. I pray that Almighty Allah grants him many more years of good health, wisdom, strength, and fulfillment as he continues to contribute to the growth, unity, and prosperity of our nation,” Tinubu said.
