Tinubu Intensifies Efforts to Rescue Abducted Schoolchildren and Others, Says Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu is fully committed to securing the safe return of schoolchildren and other citizens who have been abducted across the country.

Speaking in Abuja on Friday after a special Jumma’a prayer at the National Mosque to mark this year’s Democracy Day, Shettima said the administration would not relent in its efforts to restore peace and security nationwide.

“I want to assure Nigerians of President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and stability in the nation,” he said. “No matter how long the night is, it must give way to the light of dawn. Stormy as the weather may be, it will not rain forever. The government remains irrevocably committed to restoring peace and stability in the nation,” he added.

The Vice President’s remarks came amid renewed concerns over insecurity after the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, a development that prompted President Tinubu to approve the recruitment of additional security personnel.

Shettima urged Nigerians to continue praying for peace and stability across the country, emphasizing that the Federal Government remains determined to tackle security challenges and protect lives and property.

He also paid tribute to the sacrifices of past national heroes whose efforts helped preserve the democratic system enjoyed by Nigerians today.

According to him, citizens should remain united and pray for one another, noting that the values and interests shared by Nigerians are stronger than the differences that may exist among them.
