President Bola Tinubu said that the re‑election of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji represents a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability and people‑centred governance.
He made the statement in a congratulatory message to the governor following his victory in the Saturday governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announced on Sunday morning that Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had won the election.
Tinubu praised the people of Ekiti State for their peaceful and orderly conduct and for placing their trust in Governor Oyebanji. He also commended law‑enforcement agencies for maintaining law and order.
He urged INEC to continue conducting peaceful, free, fair and credible elections as the country heads toward the Osun governorship election in August and the general election next year.
“With his overwhelming victory, Oyebanji has become the first governor in Ekiti State’s history to win re‑election in consecutive terms.”
During his first term, Governor Oyebanji made significant progress in infrastructure, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare and rural development under his agenda.
“The renewed mandate, he said, is a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability and people‑centred governance,” the president said in a statement released through his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.
