President Bola Tinubu sent warm congratulations to the Muslim community in Nigeria and worldwide on the Islamic New Year, 1st Muharram 1448 AH, which falls on June 16, 2026.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President reflected on the significance of the Hijrah—the migration from Mecca to Medina that marks the beginning of the Hijri calendar. He noted that the lessons of sacrifice, renewal, patience, and faith in Allah’s divine plan remain essential for building a peaceful, just, and prosperous nation.
Addressing all Nigerians, especially Muslims, Tinubu urged citizens to embrace the new year’s spirit by recommitting to good citizenship. He called for acts of kindness, tolerance, honesty, and devotion to duty as vital contributions to national unity, security, and development.
The President prayed that the new Islamic year bring blessings, peace, and prosperity to every household and that Allah continues to guide the nation on the path of progress.
