The Social Democratic Party, SDP, presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu can generate his own votes.

Speaking on the Vanguard programme “Politics Hub,” Adebayo questioned Tinubu’s role as chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The remarks were made in the context of the upcoming 2027 general elections and the SDP’s readiness for the polls.

He said, “Since the last election, we have continued to visit people wherever they are because Tinubu can produce his own votes, as he is the INEC chairman himself.”

“We need to return to our people the way our leaders did in the First Republic. You had to see Obafemi Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello, and Nnamdi Azikiwe. When they campaigned, dust covered their bodies,” he added.

“I am doing everything to cover every corner of Nigeria. I know the deficiencies, I know where people are, and I know that you need to meet them where they are.”
