Tinubu Arrives in Lagos After Visiting France, Kenya, and Rwanda

To participate in APC primaries starting Saturday

President Bola Tinubu arrived in Lagos on Friday after a three‑nation visit to France, Kenya and Rwanda. The president’s official aircraft, Nigeria Air Force 1, landed at approximately 7:12 pm in the Presidential Wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja. He was welcomed by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu, Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat, Chief of Staff to the President Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Hon Mudashiru Obasa, and other government officials.

During his stay in Lagos, Tinubu will take part in the All Progressives Congress primary elections, which begin on Saturday. In a statement released Thursday to party members, the president urged participants to “keep the peace and be ready to play as sportsmen and women in the overall interest of the party and our country.”

While in France, Tinubu met with global investors, stressing the importance of transparency and fiscal discipline and explaining the rationale behind the swift implementation of the bold economic reforms his administration has introduced. He also attended the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, co‑hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto. At the summit, he called for a reform of the global financial architecture and a stronger economic integration that prioritises Africa’s growth and prosperity. Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s potential in the blue economy and pledged to share the country’s maritime intelligence infrastructure with willing Gulf of Guinea states.

In Nairobi, the president held a bilateral meeting with Madagascar’s President Michael Randrianirina. In Kigali, Rwanda, Tinubu joined other African leaders, investors and chief executive officers at the Africa CEO Forum, where participants discussed practical ways to accelerate the continent’s economic transformation through shared scale, regional integration and increased cross‑border investment. He also met with Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

During his visit, Tinubu met delegations from multilateral and multinational companies, including the International Finance Corporation, APM Terminals and the Winme Group, and reported favorable outcomes from those engagements. He also appeared in panels and discussions that highlighted the thrust of his administration’s economic reform programmes.
