Comrade Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, has cautioned Nigerian and African leaders against entering agreements with France that he calls “devilish” and “anti‑people.”
In a statement released on Friday, Frank urged African youth to resist any resurgence of French influence on the continent.
The comments follow recent diplomatic meetings between France and several African leaders, during which numerous agreements were signed at the “Africa Forward: Africa‑France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth Summit” in Nairobi, Kenya. The summit was attended by French President Emmanuel Macron and African leaders such as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Frank said that Paris was seeking to regain influence in Africa after being rejected in several Francophone countries.
He described the agreements as a “Greek gift,” asserting that they would not benefit African citizens or foster genuine development.
Frank argued that African leaders should prioritize their citizens’ interests over personal ambition and corruption‑driven alliances.
“Any agreement signed with France will only benefit the leaders themselves and not the people. Africans must reject such deals because they are like death warrants for the continent,” he said.
“Africans should reject leaders who mortgage the future of their countries for selfish gains. The continent deserves partnerships that promote development, security and prosperity for the people,” he added.
