Super Eagles forward Akor Adams is on the verge of becoming Venezia’s biggest signing ever, Afrik-Foot reports.
This is as the newly promoted Serie A club reached an agreement with Sevilla over a deal worth €16 million, with another €7 million possible through bonuses.
The transfer is a major step in the career of the 26-year-old Nigerian striker, who is set to leave Spain after just one-and-a-half years with Sevilla. Adams scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 32 La Liga appearances last term to convince Venezia that he can lead their attack as they prepare for life back in Italy’s top flight.
The financial package also works well for Sevilla. The Spanish club signed Adams from Montpellier for around €5.5 million in January 2025, meaning they will make a profit of almost €10 million from the sale. That income is important as Sevilla continue efforts to improve their financial situation and register new players ahead of the new season.
Negotiations were completed after Venezia sporting director Filippo Antonelli travelled to Spain to hold face-to-face talks. The clubs are now finishing the final paperwork and agreeing on the payment structure before Adams travels to Italy for his medical, which is expected to take place ahead of his official unveiling on Monday.

Victor Osimhen became one of Serie A’s greatest strikers during his time at Napoli, winning the league title and finishing as the division’s top scorer. While matching Osimhen’s overall achievements will take time, Adams has a realistic opportunity to challenge some of the Super Eagles star’s debut-season records if he settles quickly at Venezia.
Three Osimhen records Adams can target in Serie A
The first record within Adams’ reach is the most goals by a Nigerian in a debut Serie A season.
Osimhen scored 10 league goals during his first campaign with Napoli in 2020-21. It was an impressive return considering his season was interrupted by a shoulder injury and a bout of COVID-19, which forced him to miss several matches. Despite those setbacks, he still reached double figures.
Adams arrives in Italy after scoring exactly 10 league goals for Sevilla last season. If he remains fit and becomes Venezia’s main attacking threat, he has every chance of matching or surpassing that mark in his first Serie A campaign.

Because of the injuries and illness that slowed his first season, Osimhen needed 24 Serie A appearances before reaching his 10th goal. He achieved the milestone against Spezia in May 2021.
Venezia are expected to build much of their attack around Adams, especially after making him the club’s record signing. If he adapts quickly to Italian football and starts scoring from the opening weeks of the season, he could reach 10 goals in fewer than 24 league matches and set a new benchmark for Nigerian players.
The third record is scoring in the most different Serie A matches by a Nigerian debutant. During his first season at Napoli, Osimhen’s 10 goals came across nine separate league opponents. He scored one brace and added single goals in eight other fixtures, showing he regularly made an impact throughout the campaign.
That record could also be under threat. Newly promoted teams often survive by winning tight matches, and consistent goals from their leading striker can make the difference between staying up and going down. If Adams scores in 10 or more different Serie A games, he would surpass Osimhen’s debut-season mark while giving Venezia a much better chance of avoiding relegation.
Breaking any of these records will not be easy, but Adams arrives in Italy with confidence, strong recent form and the backing of a club that has invested heavily in him. If he settles quickly, his first Serie A season could become one of the most memorable by a Nigerian striker since Osimhen first announced himself at Napoli.
