Three people killed in gun attack on a Kano community

On Monday night, armed gunmen entered Yankamaye community in Tsanyawa Local Government Area, Kano State, causing panic, killing three people and prompting residents to flee their homes.

Residents reported that the attackers moved through the settlement, opening fire at both people and houses, which generated widespread fear and confusion.

Saifullahi Sulaiman Sorodaya, a local resident, said many villagers fled as the gunmen kept firing indiscriminately.

“The attackers entered the town shooting without stopping, and people had no option but to run for their lives,” he said.

Madahuru Isah Ibrahim, another resident, said several individuals were injured in the assault and were taken to a hospital for treatment.

In the aftermath, inhabitants of Yankamaye and nearby villages called on security agencies to increase surveillance and deploy additional personnel to avert further attacks.

At the time of publication, security agencies had not released an official statement on the incident.
