Three arrested as police investigate the killing of a British‑Nigerian musician in London

The Metropolitan Police have detained three individuals in connection with the fatal stabbing of British‑Nigerian musician Mark Orabiyi, which has triggered a murder investigation in London.

Orabiyi, 35, was reported to have sustained multiple stab wounds during an incident at a residential property on Rayleigh Road on Friday.

Emergency services were dispatched after receiving distress calls, but attempts to revive the victim were unsuccessful.

Police officers arrived with paramedics and found the critically injured man in the garden of the property. He was later pronounced dead on the scene.

While formal identification procedures are still underway, authorities have confirmed the deceased as Mark Orabiyi. Specialist officers are currently offering support to his family.

Family members paid an emotional tribute, describing him as a cherished son, brother, uncle and friend whose life positively impacted many people.

“Mark brought joy, kindness and warmth to everyone around him. His remarkable talent and generous spirit touched countless lives, and his memory will remain with us forever,” the family said.

Police announced that three suspects—two men and a woman—were arrested shortly after the incident as part of the investigation.

A 27‑year‑old man was released on bail pending further inquiries, while a 24‑year‑old man and a 25‑year‑old woman were released after questioning with no further action taken against them.

Investigators also revealed that a second victim, a 20‑year‑old man, suffered multiple stab wounds during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries were described as non‑life‑threatening.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who is leading the investigation, described the killing as tragic and appealed to the public for information that could help establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.

“This is a deeply upsetting incident, and our thoughts remain with Mark’s family and loved ones. Our investigation is progressing, and we urge anyone who was in the area at the time or may have captured relevant CCTV or video footage to contact the police,” she said.

Authorities say inquiries remain ongoing as detectives work to establish the events that led to the fatal attack and identify those responsible.
