Former Arsenal captain Thierry Henry has spoken publicly for the first time since the current squad secured the Premier League title.

The Gunners last claimed the championship 22 years ago, a period when Henry was at the height of his career.

A 1‑1 draw between Manchester City and Bournemouth on Tuesday night ensured that Mikel Arteta’s team can no longer be overtaken at the summit.

“From Highbury seats to the Emirates – Arsenal Nation, finally we can celebrate,” Henry wrote on Instagram.

“Special thanks to this generation, finally now my kids saw us winning the league. #goonerforlife.”

Arsenal will lift the trophy after their match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
