Terem Moffi warns Poland, Portugal ahead of June friendlies

Super Eagles and FC Porto striker Terem Moffi has warned Poland and Portugal about the quality of the Nigerian team ahead of their upcoming friendly fixtures, Afrik Foot reports.

The 27‑year‑old started the 2026 Unity Cup games against Zimbabwe and Jamaica, scoring a goal and setting up another across 180 minutes as the Super Eagles lifted the title.

Moffi had to play with an entirely new set of Nigerian players, but was pleased with the quality of the new players and believes they can compete against their opponents next month.

Set to return to OGC Nice this summer, Moffi was delighted with the 2026 Unity Cup victory, claiming it underlines the strength of the Super Eagles.

“It feels great winning a title again. My first one was two weeks ago and another one today. I feel really proud of myself and the team,” he said in an interview with Molatsportgist.

The former FC Lorient striker admitted he wasn’t at his best in the two fixtures at Charlton Athletic’s Valley Stadium, but revealed he has to step up because of the quality of attackers in the Super Eagles squad.

Given that the competition for places is very high, he warned that opposition teams should be very careful of facing the side.

“Of course you always have to look at ways to improve. I am not at my best, I have to be at a better level,” Moffi continued.

“If you want to play for the Super Eagles, we all know we have top strikers, so you have to be at your best continuously.”

“It wasn’t easy, if I am being honest. But I am proud of the boys [the NPFL players], they did an amazing job and enjoy themselves tonight.”

“They should do what they have to do tonight and next year, we will go again,” Moffi concluded.

Nigeria will play against Poland on Wednesday at Stadion Narodowy before taking on Portugal next week as both nations finalise their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament.
