UGHELLI- THERE is tension in Uduere community of Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State as suspected kidnappers killed a security guard kidnapped his 14-year old daughter.

This is coming a week after herdsmen attacked and matcheted a young man at Edjekota Community.

Though the report is sketchy, Vanguard learnt that the deceased identified as Umukoro Obukohwo Emmanuel was allegedly macheted to death before the teenage girl was kidnapped in the community Sunday early morning.

According to sources, “The deceased victim was a security guard at a poultry in the community before he was gruesomely murdered with one of his hands chopped off as his neck was ferociously severed.

The source said, “It looks like, the deceased was followed to his place of work and just as he opened the gate of the compound, the kidnappers took advantage and killed him.

“As that was not enough, after they had successfully killed the man, they broke into the apartment to carry out their mission.

“While they were breaking the burglary, the innocent young girl came out of her room to know was happening and immediately she came out, the kidnappers took her away.” The source revealed.

Another community source who spoke on anonymous condition disclosed that the security situation in Uduere was becoming unbearable as leaders are playing politics with people’s lives.

“Before now the community had an internal security outfit but because it was not comfortable with some persons, they disband it and this is what we are now experiencing.

“Those that were not comfortable with the security outfit, threatened to arrest us after reporting at the Ughelli Area Command.

“Some leaders are playing politics with the lives of Uduere community people. The Nigeria Constitution provides right to life, but as it is now, some persons are taking our lives for granted.

“We are calling on the Delta State government to prioritize the safety of Uduere community people as life has no part two or duplicate.”

Further investigations by Vanguard revealed that the Kidnappers have contacted the family of the teenager and they are demanding for a N100 million ransom.

Efforts to contact the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer SP Edafe Bright was not successful as calls and messages sent to his line were not returned nor replied.

But a security source attached to the Delta State Police Command who confirmed the incident said, “we are on top the situation as the police are on the trail on the hoodlums.”
