TCN reports on power outage at presidential villa, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, and other parts of Abuja.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) confirmed that it is working to restore power to affected areas of Abuja, including the Presidential Villa and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah said on Saturday that the outage was caused by faults in the red and yellow phase 33 kV bushings of a 100 MVA power transformer at its Apo substation.

The company reported that the red phase bushing has been resuscitated, while repairs on the yellow phase are still underway.

TCN has requested the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to supply customers on the outgoing 33 kV feeders connected to the damaged transformer from other TCN feeders within its franchise area until the repairs are finished.

“Presently, the red phase bushing has been resuscitated, while work is ongoing on the yellow phase,” Mbah said. “In view of this incident, TCN has requested that AEDC take supply for customers on the outgoing 33 kV feeders connected to the affected 100 MVA transformer at the Apo Substation from other TCN feeders within its franchise area pending completion of repairs.”

“Our engineers are working assiduously to restore the transformer and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience the incident has caused AEDC and electricity customers fed from the affected feeders,” the statement added.

Earlier reports indicated that parts of the nation’s capital, including the State House, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, and other areas, had been plunged into darkness.
