TCN Announces 13‑Day Blackout in the Delta Region

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a 13‑day blackout across major parts of Delta State due to maintenance on its 132/33 kilovolt substation.

TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah explained in a statement on Friday that the power interruption began on June 4, 2026, and is expected to continue until June 16.

The federal agency said the work involves installing a bus coupler circuit breaker and rehabilitating five isolators on the main busbar.

As a result, Benin Electricity Distribution will be unable to supply power to several Delta State areas, including Warri, Effurun, and Sapele.

“Consequently, 33kV feeders emanating from transformers at Effurun and Delta 132/33kV Transmission Substations, including Effurun, Warri, Sapele, Osubi, PTI, PMSL, Refinery I, Refinery II, and Enerhen feeders, as well as Isoko/Kwale, Otovwodo/Patani, Ughelli/Shell, Agbarho/Eku, Aladja, Imoniyame, and Beta Glass feeders, will be out of service during the maintenance period,” TCN stated.

Daily Post reports that the outage will affect major businesses in Delta State that rely on the national grid for electricity.
