The Nigeria Police Force has reiterated its pledge to safeguard lives and property through professional, intelligence‑led, and community‑oriented policing. The statement came after the commissioning of a new Taraba State Police Command Headquarters Complex and B Division Yorro in Jalingo.
The facilities were officially opened on 24 June 2026 in the presence of Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas and retired Commissioner of Police Cyril Agyole Abeh.
At the ceremony, Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, the Commissioner of Police for Taraba State Command and acting on behalf of the Inspector‑General of Police, highlighted the projects as a key milestone for strengthening policing infrastructure and boosting operational effectiveness in the state.
He explained that the new headquarters and divisional office would enhance command administration, intelligence management, operational coordination, and the ability to respond swiftly to security challenges throughout Taraba.
Dongshal also urged officers to maintain the facilities properly and to uphold professionalism, discipline, accountability, and respect for human rights in their duties.
Representing Governor Kefas, retired CP Cyril Agyole Abeh praised the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) for delivering the projects. He described the development as a major boost to security and socio‑economic growth in the state and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting security agencies in maintaining peace and public safety.
During his remarks, Alhaji Muhammad Sheidu, Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, said the projects demonstrate the Fund’s determination to close infrastructure gaps within the Nigeria Police Force. He added that the Trust Fund remains dedicated to improving the welfare and operational efficiency of police personnel through ongoing investments in infrastructure, equipment, and training.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by government officials, security stakeholders, traditional rulers, and community representatives.
The Taraba State Police Command thanked the Inspector‑General of Police, the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, the state government, traditional institutions, community stakeholders, and other contributors whose support made the successful completion of the projects possible.
