Bandits allegedly attacked the Unguwar Mahauta community in Lakwaya village, Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, killing at least two people and stealing a large number of cattle.
The incident was reported on X by security analyst Bakatsine on Friday.
According to the post, the attackers arrived in the evening on more than 30 motorcycles and opened fire on residents.
Witnesses said the attack caused panic, with people fleeing for safety while the gunmen moved freely before escaping with livestock.
The assailants were also said to have injured several other residents during the invasion, although the exact number of the wounded was not immediately confirmed.
“Yesterday evening, bandits attacked Unguwar Mahauta community in Lakwaya village, Gwarzo LGA of Kano State, killing at least two people, injuring several others and rustled a large number of cattle during the invasion.”
“Witnesses say the attackers arrived on more than 30 motorcycles around 4 PM, firing indiscriminately and sending residents fleeing in panic.”
“How are heavily armed groups still able to move in large convoys and carry out attacks without interception?” Bakatsine asked.
