Suspected bandits kill five soldiers, three CJTF members, injure others in Borno attack 

Suspected bandits attacked a Nigerian Army Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Mandaragira, Borno State, killing five soldiers and removing significant military equipment.

The assault took place at about 3:00 a.m. on Friday. Three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) were also killed, and several others wounded in the crossfire were airlifted by the Air Component Command for medical care.

Lieutenant Colonel Haruna M. Sani, Acting Media Information Officer at Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, provided the details in a statement.

He said that troops neutralised many insurgents during the attack and that the FOB Mandaragira, under the 25 Brigade, Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI, had taken all necessary measures to protect local communities and maintain pressure on insurgents by deploying additional troops and critical combat enablers across the North‑East theatre.

The statement added, “Troops remain firmly in control of the FOB and continue to dominate the general area, while exploitation operations are ongoing for consolidation.”
