Super Falcons Forward Set To Join Swedish Club BK Häcken

Super Falcons forward Joy Omewa is on the brink of completing a move to Swedish champions BK Häcken, reports Completesports.com.

According to Swedish media outlet SVT, Häcken have finalised an agreement to sign the Nigerian striker ahead of the new season.

Omewa became a free agent after leaving English Women’s Super League 2 side Nottingham Forest last month following the expiration of her contract.

The 23-year-old made an impressive impact during her brief spell with the Tricky Trees, scoring three goals in nine appearances.

The move will see Omewa reunite with fellow Super Falcons star Halimat Ayinde at BK Häcken, with both players currently included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Omewa began her professional career in Denmark with Boldklubben af 1893 in 2021 before earning a move to Danish powerhouse Fortuna Hjørring after half a season.

She enjoyed a prolific spell at Fortuna, playing a pivotal role in the club’s domestic league and cup double during the 2024/25 campaign.

The forward finished the league season with 22 goals in 24 appearances and established herself as one of the division’s most lethal attackers.

Overall, Omewa scored an outstanding 55 league goals for Fortuna Hjørring, while also finding the net seven times in European competitions, performances that attracted interest from clubs across Europe before her move to Nottingham Forest.

If completed, the transfer to BK Häcken will offer Omewa the opportunity to compete in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and continue her development at one of Scandinavia’s leading clubs, while strengthening Häcken’s attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
