Super Eagles: Two reasons why Genoa want Arokodare

Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare continues to face uncertainty over his future at Wolves ahead of the new season, with Italian club Genoa now joining the race for his signature, Afrik-Foot reports.

Arokodare’s future has remained uncertain since Wolves were relegated from the Premier League to the Championship last season, with growing speculation over whether he will stay at the club beyond this summer.

The Nigerian striker only joined the Old Gold from Belgian side Genk last summer, but his first season in England did not go as planned. He managed just three Premier League goals and eventually lost his place in the starting lineup, playing second fiddle to Adam Armstrong during the second half of the campaign.

Despite his struggles, Arokodare has continued to attract interest from several clubs this summer, including Fiorentina, Trabzonspor and Galatasaray.

According to Transfermarkt, Genoa have now entered the race and are pushing strongly to sign the Super Eagles forward from Wolves.

While the move could offer Arokodare a fresh start, there are two key reasons why the Serie A club have identified him as a priority target.

Genoa need a reliable striker

One of the biggest reasons behind Genoa’s interest in the Super Eagles striker is their need to strengthen their attack ahead of the new season.

The Serie A side are actively searching for a new centre forward and, although they have looked at other options, Arokodare has emerged as one of their leading targets. His uncertain situation at Wolves also makes him a realistic option in the transfer market.

Genoa finished 16th in Serie A last season and struggled badly in front of goal, a problem that nearly dragged them into the relegation battle.

As a result, signing a proven striker has become one of the club’s priorities this summer. Arokodare’s experience in Belgium and the Premier League makes him an attractive option as they look to improve their attacking output.

Although Arokodare endured a difficult campaign with Wolves, his quality as a striker is still evident.

Before moving to England, the Super Eagles forward established himself as one of the most dangerous attackers in Belgium during his time at Genk, where he consistently delivered goals and strong performances.

A move to Genoa could provide him with the fresh environment he needs to rediscover that form. With regular playing time and a system that suits his strengths, he has the potential to become a key player for the Italian club and help them push for a higher finish next season.

However, Genoa will have to fend off competition from Trabzonspor and Fiorentina for his signature. If they succeed in completing the deal, Arokodare would be an excellent addition to their squad and could have the perfect platform to revive his career.
