Super Eagles Set to Beat Zimbabwe in Unity Cup 2026 Opener — Kalika

Dutch coach Simon Kalika has told Completesports.com that he has no doubts the Super Eagles will defeat Zimbabwe in tonight’s Unity Cup match in London.

The Super Eagles will play Zimbabwe in the opening game of the 2026 Unity Cup, scheduled for the Charlton Athletic Club Stadium.

Super Eagles Favoured Against Zimbabwe

Kalika, who assisted Samson Siasia at the 2005 FIFA U‑20 World Cup in the Netherlands and the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, believes Eric Chelle’s side has the credentials to be beaten by the East Africans.

“It’s a bit dicey because there are no small teams in football anymore,” Kalika said.

“But I think the Super Eagles have a big chance to win. They have big players — (Victor) Osimhen, (Ademola) Lookman, and other players doing very well in Europe.”

“We should ask how many goals the Super Eagles will score if the team gets good organisation and tactical balance.”

“Nigeria is far better than Zimbabwe in football and that should come into the game today.”

Opening Fixture Could Shape Tournament Journey

“This is the opening match and very important, but always difficult. A Super Eagles win is important for how far they will go in the tournament,” Kalika said.
