Super Eagles news: Breakdown of Eintracht Frankfurt’s €17.3bn offer for Onyedika

Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika is being strongly linked with a transfer to German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt, Afrik-Foot reports.

​Heading into this summer, it was widely expected that the 25-year-old would switch clubs. Although he has been linked with several teams over the past 18 months, he has remained with Club Brugge until now.

​With only one year left on his contract and his refusal to sign an extension, Club Brugge face a difficult decision: they must either sell him now or risk losing him for free next summer, unless they opt to sell him at a cut-price fee in January.

​This summer, the Super Eagles star was strongly linked to Galatasaray, but the Cimbom recently signed Lesley Ugochukwu. Nonetheless, due to their thin midfield, there is a possibility they may still add another player to the center of the park.

​Fresh reports from Germany now indicate that Eintracht Frankfurt is closing in on the Super Eagles star.

Onyedika: Eintracht Frankfurt’s Package For Super Eagles Star

​According to reports from Ekrem Konur, Eintracht Frankfurt is making progress in its push to sign Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge.

​The player has already reached a verbal agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt on a deal that would keep him at the club until 2031. The clubs are now negotiating a fee in the range of €8–10 million (approximately ₦17.3 billion).

​This amount is less than half of his current market value of €23 million on Transfermarkt, so it remains to be seen whether Club Brugge will accept the deal.

​The 25-year-old currently earns around €4,000 weekly at Club Brugge, so he would definitely receive a significant pay increase if he completes the move.

​Onyedika is eager for the transfer due to his current low wages and the allure of playing in a top five league. However, he will miss out on continental football, as Eintracht Frankfurt failed to qualify for Europe after finishing eighth last season.

​It remains to be seen if the Nigerian midfielder will finalize the move or if another club will attempt to swoop in for him before the transfer window closes.

​If the transfer goes through, he will be the first player since Jay-Jay Okocha to play for Die Adler.
