Sowore Falls After Police Use Tear Gas on Abuja Protesters (VIDEO)

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore collapsed after a clash with police during a Democracy Day protest at the Unity Fountain in Abuja, causing panic among attendees.

Police were reported to have moved in to disperse demonstrators who had gathered to protest insecurity, economic hardship and poor governance. Tear gas canisters were fired by security personnel in an effort to break up the gathering.

Following the incident, Sowore was reportedly taken to an undisclosed hospital for further examination and treatment.
