After the Abuja Federal High Court ordered activist Omoyele Sowore to be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre, a confrontation unfolded between Sowore and Department of State Services (DSS) officers inside the court building.
A video that has circulated online shows Sowore resisting attempts by DSS personnel to escort him in a Black Maria van.
"What did I do? Do you want to put me in a Black Maria? We can get an Uber because I will not enter this car because of my back," Sowore told the officers.
"Even if you want the guests to follow us, let them provide another vehicle. I will follow them, but don’t put me in a Black Maria," he added during the encounter.
The Daily Post previously reported that the Abuja Federal High Court had ordered Sowore’s remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre until Wednesday, June 24, 2026, when a hearing will be held on his motion to stay the revocation of his bail and bench warrant.
In the DSS case, Sowore was charged with cyberstalking and criminal defamation after labeling President Tinubu a “criminal” in an August 2025 social media post.
