The Ondo State Police Command has taken into custody a 38‑year‑old man named Nsikak Kingsley, who is accused of beating his 65‑year‑old father, Adone Peter, to death during a domestic dispute in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area.

According to reports, the incident followed a heated argument between father and son that escalated into violence.

A police source said the suspect struck the deceased and inflicted severe head injuries.

The victim was transported to a hospital, where doctors confirmed he had died while receiving treatment.

The case was reported to authorities by another son of the deceased, who is also the brother of the suspect, Daniel Moses.

Detectives traced and arrested Kingsley, who remains in police custody.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed that the body has been placed in a mortuary for an autopsy.

He added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry, and the suspect will be arraigned once investigations are complete.

Abayomi described the incident as both unfortunate and condemnable, urging that disagreements—whether within families or communities—should not turn into violence.

“No disagreement, whether among family members or within communities, should be allowed to escalate into violence and loss of life,” he said.

He promised a thorough investigation, stating that anyone found responsible will face the full extent of the law. He also encouraged the public to adopt peaceful conflict resolution and to report any suspicious or violent incidents to security agencies.
