On Monday, Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo sworn in 18 new commissioners and four additional appointees to the State Executive Council.
The ceremony was held in the Executive Council Chambers at Government House, Awka.
The new commissioners and their portfolios are as follows:
- Mr Ben Odoemena – Agriculture
- Mr Chukwukadibia Okoye – Budget and Economic Planning
- Mr Udoji Amedu – Culture, Entertainment and Tourism
- Dr Ekene Ogugua – Education
- Dr Clem Aguiyi – Environment
- Dr Afam Obidike – Health
- Dr Law Mefor – Information and Value Reorientation
- Prof. Offornze Amucheazi (SAN) – Lands
- Vin. Ezeaka – Local Government and Community Affairs
- Prof. Charles Ofoegbu – Petroleum and Mineral Resources
- Mr Chijioke Ojukwu – Physical Planning and Urban Development
- Mr Casmir Agummadu – Power
- Mr Okey Ezeobi – Works and Infrastructure
- Mr Eddy Ibuzo – Transport
- Mrs Esther Onyekesi – Women Affairs and Social Development
- Mr Patrick Agha – Youth Development and Sports
- Mr Henry Arinze – Housing
- Mr Nonso Ebonwu – Commerce
Additional appointments include:
- Mr Emeka Okonkwo – Managing Director, Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency
- Dr Ossy Onuko – Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority
- Mr Fred Agbata – Managing Director, Information Communication Technology Agency
- Mr Obi Okonkwo – Managing Director, Bureau of Public Procurement
Governor Soludo described the appointments as “a call to service, sacrifice and accountability” and urged the new officials to focus on governance. He reminded them that their decisions would directly affect millions of residents across the state and charged them to manage their ministries and agencies with prudence, teamwork and a commitment to the administration’s development agenda.
