Soludo Swears in 18 New Commissioners and Appoints 4 Others to Executive Council Positions

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has officially sworn in 18 commissioners who were recently screened and cleared by the Anambra State House of Assembly.

The ceremony took place in the Executive Council Chambers of the new Government House, also known as Light House, in Awka.

Addressing the newly sworn-in commissioners, Soludo stressed that their appointments call for rigorous work, sacrifice, and public accountability rather than personal celebration.

He urged them to focus immediately on governance tasks and reminded them that their decisions will directly affect the lives of more than nine million residents of Anambra State.

“I charge you to run your respective ministries with a high level of prudence and synergy. I formally welcome you to the reconstituted State Executive Council, which I like to refer to as ‘Team Solution 2.0’.”

The 18 commissioners sworn in are: Ben Odoemena (Agriculture); Chukwukadibia Okoye, FCCA (Budget and Economic Planning); Udoji Amedu (Culture, Entertainment and Tourism); and Dr Ekene Ogugua (Education).

Other appointments include Dr Clem Aguiyi (Environment); Dr Afam Obidike (Health); Dr. Law Mefor (Information and Value Reformation); Professor Offornze Amucheazi, SAN (Lands); and Vin Ezeaka (Local Government and Community Affairs).

Additional commissioners are Prof. Charles Ofoegbu (Petroleum and Mineral Resources); Chijioke Oseloka Ojukwu (Physical Planning and Urban Development); Engr. Casmir Agummadu (Power); Engr. Okey Ezeobi (Works and Infrastructure); Eddy Ibuzo (Transport); Esther Onyekesi (Women Affairs and Social Development); Patrick Agha, MBA (Youth Development and Sports); Arc. Henry Arinze (Commissioner for Housing); and Mr. Nonso Chukwuma Ebonwu (Commissioner for Commerce).

Earlier, the governor had sworn in Barr Tochukwu Nweke as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake as Secretary to the State Government, and Izuchukwu M. Okafor as Finance Commissioner.

Heads of agencies also received their appointments yesterday, including Managing Director of the Anambra Road Traffic Agency (ARTMA), Mr Emeka Okonkwo; Managing Director of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Dr Ossy Onuko; MD and CEO of the Information Communication Technology Agency, Mr Fred Agbata; and Managing Director of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Engr. Obi Okonkwo.
