Troops of the Nigerian Army operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have detained five individuals suspected of railway vandalism and have seized a truck carrying damaged railway tracks in Kaduna State.
An operational report obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday indicated that the action took place near the Kakau area of Chikun Local Government Area, after authorities received credible intelligence about the movement of suspected economic saboteurs.
The report states that the troops quickly mobilised and intercepted a trailer transporting the damaged rail material at approximately 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
It further notes that “the suspects were apprehended in the process, and the recovered items include large quantities of vandalised railway tracks loaded in a trailer.”
The suspects are now in military custody and are undergoing a preliminary investigation.
The report emphasizes that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to curb infrastructure vandalism and protect critical national assets nationwide.
The military reiterated its commitment to sustaining operations that deny criminal elements freedom of action and called on the public to continue providing timely, credible information to security agencies. (NAN)
