The Sokoto State Hisbah Board detained 17 individuals during raids on suspected centers of immoral activities across the state capital.

A statement released by the board on Sunday, May 24 2026, said the operation was part of the ongoing “Operation Tsaftace Birnin Shehu” campaign to cleanse the city.

The raids were led by the acting Commander of the Sokoto State Hisbah Board and Director of Da’awa, Imam Sirajo Abubakar.

Targeted areas included Minannata, Rijiyar Shehu, Majema, Sokoto Silame, and Mabera within the Sokoto metropolis.

The board described the exercise as an effort to curb activities deemed immoral and contrary to the state’s cultural and legal values.

Authorities did not disclose the names of those arrested or whether charges would be filed against them.
