Sokoto APC selects ten House of Representatives candidates by consensus

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State carried out affirmation exercises for candidates in ten of the state's eleven House of Representatives constituencies on Saturday, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

APC state chairman Haruna Adiya noted that only the Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency would hold a competitive primary, featuring two aspirants.

For the remaining constituencies, the party adopted a consensus affirmation process in accordance with its primary arrangements.

Adiya also mentioned that security arrangements were implemented to guarantee a peaceful exercise throughout the state, including in areas with security concerns.

In the Sokoto North/Sokoto South Federal Constituency, incumbent lawmaker Bala Hassan was affirmed as the party’s candidate.

After the exercise, Hassan thanked party members for their support and promised to continue representing the constituency.

Faruk Wurno, chairman of the Election and Affiliation Committee for Sokoto North/Sokoto South, said the exercise complied with the APC constitution.

He praised party members for the calm and orderly conduct observed during the process.
