Sixty newly qualified medical doctors from Ambrose Alli University (AAU) in Ekpoma were inducted into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
These doctors earned their qualifications during the 2021/2022 academic session.
Professor Fatima Kyari, Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the MDCN, conducted the oath‑taking ceremony at AAU’s main campus in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area, Edo State.
During the ceremony, Kyari urged the graduates to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and compassionate service in their practice.
Represented by Dr. Tijani Mandaka, the Council’s Assistant Registrar, Kyari also reminded the doctors to adhere to the ethical standards of the profession and the oath they had taken.
He cautioned that breaches of professional ethics would result in sanctions and reminded the new doctors that the nation relies on their expertise and commitment.
“Our people, communities and nations need your services. It is your responsibility to show compassion and care to every patient that comes before you and always endeavours to make patients better than when they came to you. Whenever you are in doubt, seek a second opinion,” he advised.
In her welcome address, Vice‑Chancellor Professor Mrs. Eunice Omoregie Omonzogie thanked Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State for his steadfast support of the College of Medicine and the university as a whole.
Omonzogie noted that the governor’s timely interventions had helped sustain the college during difficult times and highlighted his commitment through the successful induction exercises carried out since taking office.
She urged the newly inducted doctors to serve as worthy ambassadors of the university by exhibiting integrity, professionalism, and dedication in their careers.
