Six Oyo Representatives Leave PDP to Join Makinde in APM

Six members of the House of Representatives from Oyo State have left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The defectors are believed to be supporters of Governor Seyi Makinde, who has become the APM’s presidential candidate after switching parties.

During the resumption of the House plenary after the Sallah break on Tuesday, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read 13 letters that announced the lawmakers’ change of party affiliation.

The Oyo representatives who moved to the APM on Tuesday are Anthony Adebayo, Adedeji Olajide, Sunday Makanjuola, Oyedeji Oyeshina, Fola Oyekunle and Adigun Adekunle.

In their letters, the lawmakers cited the prolonged internal crisis and leadership struggle within the PDP as the reason for seeking a new political platform to advance their ambitions for 2027.

With this shift, Makinde has brought six of the 14 Oyo State representatives in the House to the APM.
